French Polynesia's Bora bora island is likely the most famous tropical island in the world. 
Bora Bora ligger i ögruppen Sällskapsöarna och ligger ca 260 km nordväst om Tahiti.
Ön har en area om ca 38 km2 och har ca 7.300 invånare, huvudorten på öns östra del heter Vaitape med ca 4.000 invånare.
Högsta höjden är den utslocknade vulkanen Mont Otemanu med ca 725 m.ö.h och ön omges av ett rev med ytterligare en rad motus (småöar) i lagunen innanför.
